Counselling
There are many different reasons individuals seek counselling. Some need a safe and supportive environment to discuss their thoughts and emotions, while others need guidance towards completing goals. Counselling provides an environment that is neutral and trusting to facilitate personal growth. Individuals get stuck at different points in their lives and talking to a counsellor can help a person gain perspective, use new tools and replace old patterns that are no longer working. Counselling can help to let go of the past, heal from trauma, learn new coping methods for life’s challenges and to communicate in healthier ways.
Some of the reasons people come for counselling:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Eating Disorders – Anorexia, Bulimia, Emotional Eating
- Self-Esteem
- Grief & Loss
- Trauma
- Family/Parent Concerns
- Relationship Issues
- Personal Growth & Development
Counsellors use various therapeutic techniques and modalities, including:
- Cognitive-Behavioural Techniques
- Somatic Experiencing
- Hypnosis
- Lifespan Integration
- EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping)
- Adlerian Therapy
- Solution Focused
Counselling sessions are typically 60 or 90 minutes in length and usually scheduled on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
PLEASE NOTE: At this time we do not have a counsellor on site, but refer out to our previous AIM counsellor, Barb Clay.
