Female Pelvic Exam (Pap test) and Breast Exam

  • The “PAP” test, short for Papanicolaou, is a very important test for the detection of cancer of the cervix before symptoms appear.  All women who are or have been sexually active should have Papanicolaou smears once per year. Once three consecutive smears have come back normal, testing every two years is recommended until the age of 69.  The test involves taking a small sample from the opening of the cervix with a small brush and spatula. Although it is slightly uncomfortable, it is not painful.  The other part of the female exam involves a manual examination of the uterus and ovaries to ensure there are no masses or problems in the reproductive tract.

In-house testing for urine analysis and pregnancy testing also available
