Fertility

When a woman’s health is in the best shape it can be – mind and body – she is in great condition to get pregnant. Her hormones are in balance, her eggs are healthy, she ovulates regularly, once fertilized an egg will implant, and conception has occurred. It’s just that easy, right?

The reality is, in this day and age, the majority of women are not in the best shape they can be. They lead overly busy lives without the time to eat right, get enough sleep, exercise, or make a point of including de-stressing activities in their daily routine. The additional pressure of trying to become pregnant can often only make things worse for an already stressed out body and mind.

Depending on how long your body has been in a state of stress (where diet, lifestyle choices, and your emotional state all play a role) will determine what it will take to become fertile again. For some women, just slowing down and learning to say no to some of the draining demands of daily life can be enough to get their bodies ready to conceive. For others, additional therapeutic advice and help might be what is needed to ensure a healthy sustained pregnancy.

And while many fertility issues do stem from suboptimal egg health, an equal amount of fertility obstacles are due to suboptimal sperm! This can include low sperm count, or suboptimal motility and/or morphology.

Once you do become pregnant, the physicians at AIM can assist in counseling you on the many steps that mothers can take to optimize their own health (pre-natal and post-partum) as well as that of their growing baby.
